"The selfsame day" or "that same day" — this expression means Yom Kippur. This is the tenth day from the beginning of the year, the tenth day of the month of Tishrei.
The vision of Ezekiel was on the day of the holiday of Yom Kippur. Yom Kippur, also known as the Day of Atonement, is the holiest day of the year in Judaism.
This day could not be chosen by chance: at the very beginning of the book of the prophet Ezekiel, a story is written about how the prophet Ezekiel lay bound in bonds 390 days, and then another 40 days.
If you count from the day indicated at the very beginning of the book of the prophet Ezekiel (Ez. 1:1,2), adding 7 days (Ez. 3:15,16), and adding 390+40 days, you can get a day on the eve of Rosh Hashanah: 4th Tammuz + 7 days + 390 days + 40 days = 28th, 29th or 30th Elul, this is the day before Rosh Hashanah.
So, the beginning of the book of the prophet Ezekiel refers us to the first day of Tishrei, and the last prophecy of Ezekiel sends us to the tenth day of Tishrei.
These ten days are special days: "Aseret Yemai Teshuvah", Ten Days of Repentance. And I want to add: these ten days are meant for the return of the ten lost tribes of Israel.
In accordance with the prophecy of Ezekiel (Ez. 43:18-27), during these ten days the altar of the Third (Ezekiel's) Temple should be consecrated.
